Xbox SERIES X/S / PS5 VERSION ( C O N S O L E) They're probably the most future-proof consoles ever developed, aside from the Xbox Series S which targets 1440p, I think. The new consoles are actually incredibly impressive from a technical perspective, particularly given the PC hardware in the era they were released in. The Series X has a slower solution that's still incredibly fast in its own right. The PS5 also has an extremely fast NVME drive built-in as well. Many games (at least on the Series X) also have 120fps modes for 120hz TVs. And one setting for 1080p 60fps with ray tracing. One setting for 4k 30fps with ray tracing. One setting for 4k 60fps without ray tracing. Spider-Man: Miles Morales, for example, has 3 different settings. One for frames and one for graphical fidelity.
Interestingly, a lot of games have multiple settings now. Throttling is probably an issue at times, but the downclocking/downvolting should help a lot with that, in theory.Īs for 4k/60, that's obviously an ideal, and not all games get there, but an awful lot do.
